Truckee TImes: A New Truckee Library. The Push for Measure G

“About 17 years ago, a Nevada County Grand Jury report noted that the Truckee Library was too small to serve the area. Since then, grassroots efforts have grown to support a new library.”

The October 21, 2025, Truckee Times article explains that Measure G would fund the construction of a new Truckee Regional Library to replace the current 50-year-old facility. The project has been nearly two decades in the making, after a Nevada County Grand Jury report found the existing library too small to serve Truckee’s growing population. The measure proposes a three-cent-per-square-foot property tax over 30 years that would not increase during that period. If approved by a two-thirds majority, the new library would include youth and senior program spaces, modern technology, community gathering areas, and serve as an emergency resource center.
